Binance filed for authorization to provide cryptocurrency services in Brazil on October 23, 2026, ahead of an October 30 deadline for existing providers. The Binance Brazil authorization application has not yet been approved, and the exchange has separately restricted products and removed tokens from trading for local users.
Key Takeaways
- The Central Bank of Brazil must review the application; filing does not guarantee approval.
- Restrictions on eight products and trading in 22 tokens took effect for Brazilian users on October 27.
- The application deadline is October 30, while a separate banking cut-off was moved to November 6.
Binance Brazil authorization and the new framework
Binance submitted its application through its local entity, BBrasil Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda. The exchange said the filing would allow Brazilian users to keep accessing cryptocurrency assets, stablecoin trading, payments and investment services.
Brazil’s central bank established an authorization framework for virtual-asset service providers under Resolutions 519 and 520, with procedural requirements in Normative Instruction 704. Existing providers operating when the regime took effect must submit the first phase of their applications by October 30, 2026.
Regulated banks and payment institutions face restrictions on facilitating crypto-related operations involving providers that are neither authorized nor in the authorization process. Resolution 589 moved the relevant banking cut-off from October 30 to November 6. Entering the process is therefore distinct from receiving final authorization, and access to financial infrastructure remains subject to the transition rules.
What changed for Brazilian customers
On October 27, Binance restricted eight products for Brazilian users: Binance Loans, Binance Pool, Cloud Mining, margin trading, Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops and Alpha 2.0. Users can no longer open new positions in those products.
Existing positions are subject to product-specific conditions. Outstanding loans are limited to repayment, while existing margin positions can remain open but cannot be increased through new orders, additional transfers or further borrowing.
The exchange also removed 22 tokens from trading for Brazilian users, including XVG, USDE, USTC, DCR, DUSK, PIVX, MANTRA, ONE, GMT and ZIL. The changes are not global delistings, and existing balances remain accessible for withdrawal or other permitted account actions.
Local operations and potential product returns
Under Binance’s announced structure, BBrasil will provide regulated cryptocurrency services, while another Binance entity in Brazil will handle payment accounts. Digital-asset custody will continue through Nest Clearing and Custody, which Binance identifies as regulated in Abu Dhabi.
Thiago Sarandy, Binance’s general manager in Brazil, said the company hopes discussions with the central bank will eventually allow some discontinued products to return. That remains conditional: the application itself does not authorize their restoration.
Next milestone
The next confirmed milestones are the October 30 application deadline and the November 6 banking cut-off, followed by the central bank’s review of Binance’s application.
