The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum began in New Delhi, bringing together delegations from 11 member countries and 10 partner nations for two days of discussions on parliamentary cooperation and international challenges.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the visiting parliamentary leaders and met delegation heads, including Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of Russia’s State Duma.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the meeting at Samvidhan Sadan and called for closer cooperation among parliaments to address global challenges.

Topics for discussion

The forum’s agenda includes resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. Participants are also set to discuss how parliaments can strengthen dialogue and help reduce international tensions.
