SK Hynix shares rose 10.8% in South Korean trading after the memory-chip maker reported record third-quarter operating profit and outlined a major shareholder-return plan on October 28, 2026. Micron Technology also rose alongside other semiconductor stocks.
SK Hynix shares follow record results
In its preliminary third-quarter results, SK Hynix reported revenue of 104.6155 trillion won and operating profit of 83.3338 trillion won, both quarterly records. Net profit was 39.7756 trillion won. The figures remain subject to change during the independent auditing process.
The company said rising prices for key products, growing AI memory demand and sales of higher-value products supported its performance. Sales of server DDR5 memory increased significantly, while shipments of HBM4 high-bandwidth memory began in earnest.
Micron competes with SK Hynix in advanced memory. The gains in their shares followed the results, although the available information does not establish what caused the price moves.
Returns and production plans
SK Hynix said it plans approximately 100 trillion won in shareholder returns for fiscal 2026, including at least 30 trillion won in cash dividends and at least 60 trillion won in share repurchases and cancellations. The total includes a 40 trillion won buyback announced in August and completed the week before the results.
The board also approved a third-quarter dividend of 20,000 won per share, half of which is a special dividend sharing gains from the company’s Kioxia investment. Separately, SK Hynix expects HBM4 to exceed HBM3E in both shipment volume and revenue in the fourth quarter.
