Mesoblast revenue from its Ryoncil treatment rose 44% to US$28 million in the fiscal first quarter ended September 30, 2026, while operating cash spend fell sharply from a year earlier. The company said the revenue figure is preliminary and subject to closing procedures and audit.
Key Takeaways
- Quarterly operating cash spend fell to US$2.1 million from US$14.9 million a year earlier.
- Mesoblast completed treatment of patients in a late-stage chronic low back pain trial and is preparing a separate regulatory filing for a heart-failure-related complication.
Mesoblast revenue and cash position
In its October 28 update, Mesoblast reported US$99 million in cash at September 30. The company said its US$2.1 million in operating cash spend for the quarter was an 86% improvement from the prior-year period.
Ryoncil is a cell therapy for steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease, a complication that can follow a transplant. Ryoncil’s approved pediatric indication covers patients aged two months and older.
Mesoblast said September had its highest monthly number of new patient starts, following what it described as the expected summer scheduling slowdown in July and August.
Adult trial and other treatments advance
A registration trial to expand Ryoncil’s use to adults with the same condition has begun enrolling patients. Mesoblast expects up to 40 US sites to be activated during 2026; the adult use remains under investigation.
The company also said all enrolled patients had been treated in its 350-patient phase 3 trial of rexlemestrocel-L for inflammatory chronic low back pain caused by degenerative disc disease. The primary endpoint, measuring durable pain reduction at 12 months, is expected to read out in 2027.
Separately, Mesoblast said the FDA confirmed that a planned biologics license application for rexlemestrocel-L could proceed for life-threatening gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with end-stage heart failure who have a left ventricular assist device. The company expected formal meeting minutes shortly; the filing and any approval remain pending.
Next milestone
The next scheduled clinical milestone is the low back pain trial’s primary endpoint readout in 2027.
