Micron stock closed at $983.23 on October 28, 2026, up $54.47, or 5.86%, after fellow memory-chip maker SK hynix reported record quarterly results. Micron shares later fell to $959.00 in after-hours trading.
Key Takeaways
- Micron’s after-hours quote at 7:59 p.m. ET was 2.46% below its closing price.
- SK hynix expects memory demand to exceed supply through 2030, though the outlook is not a guarantee.
- Sandisk is scheduled to report fiscal first-quarter results after the close on October 29.
Micron stock reverses part of its gain
Micron shares traded between $959.34 and $990.00 during Wednesday’s regular session. Volume was 30.7 million shares, compared with an average of 29 million.
The after-hours decline followed Alphabet’s results and a roughly 10% fall in Alphabet shares after the close. The timing alone does not establish what caused Micron’s move.
SK hynix reports record results
In its preliminary third-quarter results, SK hynix reported revenue of 104.6155 trillion won and operating profit of 83.3338 trillion won, both quarterly records. The figures remain subject to change during the independent audit.
SK hynix said demand for memory was growing faster than supply and expects that imbalance to persist through 2030. It also said long-term agreements covered more than half of its total production capacity for 2027 and 2028. Those are the company’s assessment and contracted capacity, not a forecast of Micron’s results.
Sandisk results are next
Sandisk is scheduled to report fiscal first-quarter results after the market closes on Thursday, October 29. Its revenue guidance is $10.30 billion to $10.80 billion.
Sandisk makes NAND flash memory, while SK hynix also makes DRAM and high-bandwidth memory. Sandisk’s results will therefore offer a view of a different part of the memory market.
