Dalmia Bharat earnings for the September 2026 quarter showed a consolidated loss of Rs 205 crore, weighed down by a Rs 339 crore exceptional charge for asset impairments and an employee separation scheme. Revenue and cement sales volumes increased, but higher operating costs pushed EBITDA sharply lower.

Dalmia Bharat earnings weaken despite sales growth

Consolidated revenue from operations rose 4% year on year to Rs 3,563 crore, while sales volumes increased 3% to 7.1 million tonnes. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation fell 29% to Rs 493 crore.

Power and fuel costs rose 22% to Rs 874 crore, contributing to an approximately 13% increase in total expenses to Rs 3,563 crore. EBITDA per tonne fell 31% to Rs 698, even as net sales realisation increased 1% to Rs 5,042 per tonne. The figures show that modest gains in selling prices and volumes did not keep pace with cost pressure.

“Demand challenges in few of our key markets along with macro-economic cost headwinds impacted EBITDA for the quarter,” chief financial officer Yatin Malhotra said.

Exceptional charges and dividend frame the results

The September-quarter exceptional charge followed a Rs 182 crore exceptional loss in the June quarter, primarily related to costs associated with acquiring cement assets from Jaiprakash Associates. The two quarters therefore included charges tied to different items.

Dalmia Bharat’s financial reports and results archive provides access to quarterly results, earnings releases and presentations. The archive itself does not set out the detailed financial figures.

The company also declared an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share. Its shares closed 2.1% higher at Rs 1,628.80 on the BSE before the results were announced after market hours, so that trading session’s gain was not a reaction to the release.

Malhotra said management hoped positive cement-price momentum and continued cost optimisation would help mitigate cost pressure, while acknowledging that the operating environment remained challenging.
