Moneta earnings reached CZK5.5 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 12.7% from a year earlier, as the Czech bank raised its minimum full-year net profit target to CZK7.1 billion. In its October 23, 2026 earnings discussion, management also signaled a likely increase to its 2027 profit target, but decided against an extraordinary dividend this year because of liquidity considerations.
Key Takeaways
- Higher interest income and stable operating expenses supported nine-month profit growth.
- The revised 2026 minimum profit target is CZK500 million above the original guidance.
- Management expects to update its 2027 profit target with the full-year 2026 results.
Moneta earnings benefit from lending and mortgage repricing
Operating income rose 8.2% year over year to CZK11.2 billion in the first nine months, while operating expenses remained stable at CZK4.2 billion. The cost-to-income ratio fell to 37.4%, showing that income growth outpaced the bank’s operating cost base.
Net interest income increased 9.7% to nearly CZK8 billion. Chief Financial Officer Jan Fricek attributed the improvement to accelerated lending and mortgage repricing, alongside higher treasury income, partly offset by increased deposit interest expense.
Third-quarter net interest income grew 12.1% from a year earlier and 5.5% from the preceding quarter. The quarterly net interest margin reached 220 basis points. Moneta described the quarter as its most profitable since becoming publicly traded, although the supplied figures do not specify a standalone quarterly net profit.
The loan portfolio expanded 10.4% year over year to CZK317.6 billion. New lending totaled CZK76.6 billion year to date, up 39.2%, with both retail and commercial lending contributing.

Higher 2026 guidance remains separate from the 2027 outlook
The new minimum net profit target of CZK7.1 billion would correspond to projected earnings of CZK13.9 per share if achieved. That is guidance, rather than the CZK10.8 per share earned in the first nine months.
Chief Executive Officer Tomas Spurny said an increase to the 2027 minimum net profit target was highly likely unless conditions changed fundamentally. No revised amount was announced; the formal update is due alongside the 2026 annual results.
Mortgage repricing remains part of the outlook. Fricek said CZK28 billion of mortgages would reprice in 2027, while Spurny said retention on repriced mortgages exceeded 85%.
Liquidity priorities limit extraordinary distributions
Customer deposits increased 4.5% year over year, more slowly than lending. The loan-to-deposit ratio rose to 70% from 66%, while the liquidity coverage ratio declined to 282% from 335%.
Spurny cited competition for deposits, lending growth, deposit conversions into wealth products and a planned January 2027 call of a CZK2.6 billion Tier 2 bond as reasons to preserve liquidity rather than pay an extraordinary dividend.
Moneta reported total capital adequacy of 19.03%, a common equity Tier 1 ratio of 13.1% and MREL adequacy of 27.4%. The Czech National Bank’s approach to MREL explains how institution-specific requirements provide resources for loss absorption and recapitalisation; it does not establish Moneta’s reported ratio.
Credit costs remain within the tightened forecast
Nine-month cost of risk was CZK492 million, or 22 basis points. Chief Risk Officer Carl Voekt said the result benefited from CZK65 million in nonperforming-loan sale gains, management overlay releases and a macroeconomic update.
Nonperforming-loan balances fell 7.3% to just under CZK3 billion, and their ratio reached an all-time low. Management nevertheless expects credit costs beyond 2026 to move toward a more normal level, reflected in its medium-term range of 25–45 basis points.
Next milestone
The next confirmed outlook milestone is the release of Moneta’s full-year 2026 results, when management plans to formally update its 2027 minimum profit target.
