Dez Bryant says a police officer pointed a gun at him in front of his daughters during an October 25, 2026 incident in Southlake, Texas. The former Dallas Cowboys receiver said he received a citation for assault by contact and was instructed to appear in municipal court on or before November 20.

Dez Bryant describes confrontation

Bryant said he confronted two drivers outside a restaurant after they had driven recklessly and cut him off in traffic. He said one man threatened him and appeared to suggest he would shoot him.

Bryant said the man pulled out a cellphone and began recording rather than producing a gun. Bryant said he knocked the phone out of the man’s hand.

Police response and court instructions

Bryant said an officer arrived and ordered all three men to the ground. A video posted on X shows police standing over three handcuffed men lying facedown in a parking lot.

Bryant said he was concerned about his children seeing him on the ground with a gun pointed at him. He said he was told to appear at Southlake Municipal Court on or before November 20.
