The McRib return begins Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at select McDonald’s restaurants for a limited time. The pork sandwich will not be available at every location, and customers can check the McDonald’s app for their local menu.
Where the McRib return is planned
The rollout includes select cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Dallas. Other listed locations include San Antonio and San Diego, though availability may vary by restaurant.
McDonald’s has often brought the sandwich back around November. In 2025, it returned to some markets in mid-November; in 2024, it was available nationwide in late November. This year’s return is limited to selected locations.
A limited-time menu item
The McRib was first introduced in Kansas City in 1981. Its creation is credited to chef René Arend, who also helped develop Chicken McNuggets. McDonald’s discontinued the sandwich in 1985 and brought it back in 1989.
The sandwich has frequently appeared as a limited-time item since 2006. It contains a boneless pork patty shaped like a rack of ribs, served on a bun with barbecue sauce, pickles and onions. McDonald’s US nutrition information lists 520 calories per sandwich.
