The AKC Trick Dog Competition named Miniature Schnauzer Arwen and handler Caitlin Dermody its 2026 overall winners. Australian Kelpie Twitch and handler Kelly Manning won the competition’s new international class, the American Kennel Club announced on October 26.

Dermody, of La Crescenta, California, performed a routine called “The Bonny Bark Bandit” with Arwen. The dog moved from trick to trick while her handler remained at a distance.
Manning and Twitch represented Australia in the international class. Twitch’s tricks included riding a skateboard.
More than 200 entries
The eighth annual competition was held virtually and was open to Elite Performers, the AKC’s highest level of trick dogs. More than 200 competitors from the United States, Canada and Australia submitted videos for judges to evaluate.
The two semifinalists were Heidi Armstrong and mixed-breed dog Cheza, from Austin, Texas, and April Paulman and Bulldog Mindy, from Shelbyville, Indiana. Cheza’s routine was based on an original poem by Armstrong, while Mindy’s included walking across tightropes.
