The ₹156-crore Rudraprayag bridge-tunnel project in Uttarakhand has begun trial vehicular movement, with a formal inauguration expected soon. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the project, which is intended to improve connectivity between the Kedarnath and Badrinath national highways.

Rudraprayag bridge-tunnel project scope

The project comprises a 200-metre bridge over the Alaknanda River and a 900.3-metre tunnel. Trial vehicle movement began on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Bypass for pilgrims

Once regular traffic begins, pilgrims will be able to bypass Rudraprayag’s congested main market. The route is intended to ease traffic pressure during the Char Dham Yatra.

An inauguration is expected soon, but no date was specified.
