A Samsung warranty claim dispute over a Galaxy Z Flip 6 has resulted in a Rohtak consumer commission ordering Rs 98,000 in relief, plus interest, after the phone’s owner said its screen went black during a call.
Key Takeaways
- The October 15, 2026, order includes an Rs 88,000 refund, Rs 5,000 in compensation and Rs 5,000 in litigation costs, plus 9% annual interest.
- Samsung contested the complaint, saying physical damage made the phone ineligible for warranty service.
Samsung warranty claim dispute
Krishna Enterprises, represented by proprietor Vicky Kapoor, bought the phone from Guru Simran Mobile in Rohtak on December 18, 2024, for Rs 1,09,999.
The complaint said the phone began overheating and dropping network connections within days. Kapoor visited authorised service centre Pahwa and Company in January and March 2025, when technicians reset the device. The second reset caused the loss of stored data, the complaint said.
On July 28, 2025, the phone reportedly heated up during a call and its screen went black. Kapoor submitted it to the service centre, which he said told him the next day that repairs would cost Rs 45,000. He said the service request recorded the phone as being within its warranty period.
Company response and commission order
Samsung India Electronics argued that a dent on the hinge and scratches on the screen had damaged the display and invalidated warranty coverage. It also said the complainant had not provided an expert laboratory report establishing a manufacturing defect.
The Rohtak District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered the refund and payments on October 15, 2026. The Rs 98,000 total excludes interest. The service centre and retailer were proceeded against ex parte after failing to appear.
