Delhi food inspections resulted in the destruction of 922 kg of adulterated or spoiled food products at sweet-making premises and a dairy market ahead of the festive season, officials said on October 25, 2026.

Delhi food inspections cover two locations

At 13 premises in Nihal Vihar, officials disposed of 402 kg of products: 265 kg of rasgullas, 45 kg of chhena, 80 kg of milk cake and 12 kg of grated coconut. They collected 14 samples of products including sweets and paneer for laboratory analysis.

At Mori Gate Khoya Mandi, teams destroyed about 370 kg of khoya and 150 kg of chhena. Officials said the products had been abandoned, were spoiled and smelled foul. Three khoya samples were sent for testing.

Testing and further action

The Nihal Vihar operation included unlicensed rasgulla-making units, other manufacturing facilities and sweet shops. Inspectors checked hygiene and the conditions in which products were prepared, handled and stored.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the department had been told to continue surprise inspections, monitoring and testing throughout the festive season. The department said any further action against the food businesses concerned would depend on inspection findings and laboratory reports, where required.
