Ishan Kishan will miss India’s third T20 international against New Zealand on October 27, 2026, as he recovers from a right adductor strain, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said.

Ishan Kishan recovery and squad cover

The wicketkeeper-batter sustained the injury during the series opener and also missed the second match, when Vaibhav Sooryavanshi replaced him in India’s playing XI.

India bowling coach Morne Morkel said on October 26 that Kishan was doing well and would train, but was unavailable for selection as a precaution. The BCCI said he had not yet regained match fitness and its medical team was monitoring his progress.

Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra, who was added to the squad as cover, will remain with the team for the third match in Wellington. India lead the five-match series 2-0.
