BJP protests are planned across India’s state headquarters on October 26, 2026, after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge made a remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event in Patna.
What prompted the BJP protests
Kharge spoke on October 25 at an event marking the birth anniversary of Shrikrishna Singh, Bihar’s first chief minister. After an audience member said the prime minister would not go anywhere, Kharge responded with a remark referring to Modi’s father also going.
The BJP described the comment as insulting, indecent and offensive. In a statement, the party said it would stage demonstrations at all state headquarters on Monday, October 26, over the reference to Modi’s late father.
