Dr Reddy’s plans to relaunch generic semaglutide in November 2026 after temporary supply disruptions linked to challenges scaling up active pharmaceutical ingredient production. The company has reiterated a target of selling six to seven million pens this year.
Generic semaglutide sales plans
Initial volumes are expected to come from Canada and other international markets before larger geographies contribute meaningfully. Over the longer term, Dr Reddy’s expects an annual opportunity of 12 million to 15 million pens.
Those figures are company targets and expectations, not reported sales. The November relaunch remains a planned event.
Biosimilars and North American pipeline
Dr Reddy’s is also awaiting a regulatory decision on its arthritis drug abatacept biosimilar in the United States, expected in December 2026. Commercial momentum could take several quarters as the drug is added to formulary lists.
In the first half of fiscal 2027, the company launched 12 products and filed 10 abbreviated new drug applications in North America. Its pending pipeline included 80 filings, among them 27 first-to-file opportunities and three new drug applications.
The company’s domestic formulations business grew in the September quarter, although lower North American Revlimid sales and weakness in the active pharmaceutical ingredient business offset that growth.
