Alkemi fund manager Alkemi Growth Capital plans to launch its third fund in 2027 while continuing to invest its second fund in healthcare and wellness businesses, founding partner Alka Goel said on October 26, 2026.
Key Takeaways
- The current fund aims to back 16–18 companies, with capital reserved for follow-on investments.
- Alkemi typically makes four to five investments a year and has recently exited Pee Safe.
Alkemi fund investment approach
Alkemi makes initial investments of ₹15 crore to ₹30 crore and prefers to lead or co-lead rounds, Goel said. The firm typically takes a board seat and helps portfolio companies with hiring, customer introductions and later fundraising.
The firm assesses founders’ healthcare knowledge alongside customer retention, unit economics, growth prospects and the strength of a company’s offering. For care providers, Goel said, growth must not compromise the quality of care.
Healthcare opportunities and exits
Goel identified opportunities in affordable care in tier-II and tier-III markets, as well as childcare, senior care, oncology, cardiovascular care and artificial intelligence applications. She also pointed to contract development and manufacturing organizations, while saying funding for novel drug development remains some distance away.
Alkemi typically supports portfolio companies for five to six years. Goel said those companies have raised more than $350 million since Alkemi invested. The firm is also working on further exits from its first fund.
