Marcel Duchamp Prize recognizes installation
Claude Bonnin, president of the Association for the International Diffusion of French Art, or ADIAF, announced the award at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
David Brognon and Stéphanie Rollin’s installation, titled “5,376 Years, 1,892 Months, 1,110 Days, 1,201 Hours,” places sobriety tokens inside four carnival machines. Three wall lights are connected to a woman named Kate, who adjusts their brightness remotely according to her circumstances.
Brognon and Rollin have worked together since 2006. Their practice has addressed waiting, confinement and the experiences of people living at the margins of society.
