Ping An biodiversity plans will expand to include a Przewalski’s gazelle conservation initiative and an egret rescue program, the financial services group announced at a seminar in Shenzhen on October 23, 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • Ping An plans to launch a conservation initiative for the Przewalski’s gazelle.
  • A dedicated fund has been established to support egret rescue at a Sinopec site.
  • A separate rubber-industry insurance pilot in Laos remains at the planning stage.

Ping An biodiversity plan targets two species

Chen Yao, general manager of Ping An’s brand communications department, introduced the two initiatives under the company’s new conservation plan. The Przewalski’s gazelle is found around Qinghai Lake and is a Class 1 nationally protected wild animal in China.

Ping An Property & Casualty is providing agricultural drones for wildlife population monitoring and habitat patrols across a 161-square-kilometer protected area. The company said the drones help conservation teams identify injured wildlife and habitat disturbances.

For the egret program, Ping An has established a rescue fund for the Egret Garden at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company. It will support professional organizations rescuing eggs and chicks that need intervention, treating injured or sick egrets, and caring for injured migratory birds identified through monitoring at the site.

Insurance and conservation work

The company also outlined existing conservation efforts, including risk protection for 80,000 ancient trees across China, with total coverage of RMB1.26 billion. It said its public welfare insurance for wild mushroom poisoning provides RMB50 million in annual coverage and has assisted on 378 occasions to date.

Ping An is exploring insurance protection for Laos’ rubber industry. The initial pilot is planned to cover approximately 1,200 hectares, with estimated insurance coverage exceeding RMB54 million; the company did not say the pilot had begun.

Shenzhen seminar

The seminar was hosted by the China Public Relations Association and co-organized by Ping An ahead of APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Shenzhen in November 2026. Participating institutions and companies presented a joint initiative on ecological conservation and green development.
