Anahat Singh reached her first PSA Gold semifinal at the Silicon Valley Open in October 2026, defeating eight-time world champion Nour El Sherbini along the way. The 18-year-old Indian player’s run ended with a four-game loss to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam.
Anahat Singh’s run in California
In Redwood City, Singh beat El Sherbini in the round of 16, then defeated higher-ranked Egyptian Salma Hany in five games to reach the last four.
World No. 4 Subramaniam, who had also beaten Singh in the 2026 Asian Games final, stopped her in the semifinals. That earlier defeat denied Singh direct qualification for the 2028 Olympics.
A breakthrough year
Singh’s 2026 results include defending her Indian Open title, winning the Squash on Fire Open in Washington and claiming the World Junior Championships title, ending Egypt’s 16-year hold on the junior crown.
Her Washington victory took her into the world’s top 20 as the youngest Asian to reach that ranking. Singh is aiming for an Olympic medal when squash makes its debut at the 2028 Games.
