Adani Enterprises shares had fallen more than 20% from their July 2026 peak as of October 28, erasing almost $10 billion in market value ahead of the Indian infrastructure company’s second-quarter earnings.

Key Takeaways

  • The decline followed a 43% rally earlier in 2026.
  • Analysts expect the company to return to profit after losses linked to a US legal settlement.
  • Gross debt stood at ₹97,620 crore at the end of June, nearly 13% higher than a year earlier.

Adani Enterprises shares retreat from July high

The flagship company of Gautam Adani’s conglomerate raised $1.6 billion from investors in July, when its shares reached their peak. The earlier rally followed the settlement of regulatory and legal cases in India and the US.

Gary Tan, a portfolio manager at Allspring Global Investments, which holds the stock, said investor attention had shifted from growth potential to earnings delivery. The Nifty 50 index had also fallen almost 13% during 2026 as of October 28.

GQG Partners reduced its holding in Adani Enterprises to 1.82% at the end of September from 3.9% in March. Co-founder Rajiv Jain said the reduction was intended to keep the position size reasonable after the stock appreciated.

Airports, copper and data centres in focus

Investors will look for updates on the company’s airport and copper businesses, as well as its proposed manufacturing venture with Jabil for AI and data-centre equipment. The companies signed a non-binding agreement for the proposed 50:50 venture, subject to definitive agreements and approvals.

Separately, the airport subsidiary’s fundraising agreements provide for ₹9,825 crore, or about $1 billion, in primary equity from investors including Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and BlackRock-managed funds. The investment is planned in three tranches, with the final tranche expected by July 2027.

Adani Enterprises’ gross debt was equivalent to about $10.3 billion at the end of June. Its increase comes as rising bond yields raise questions about financing costs for the company’s expansion.

Next milestone

Adani Enterprises is scheduled to report its second-quarter earnings on October 28, 2026.
