China stocks rebounded on October 28, 2026, ending a two-day losing streak, while Hong Kong technology shares also rose. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 1.8% by the midday break, following third-quarter results from South Korean chipmaker SK hynix.

China stocks rise alongside Hong Kong shares

The CSI 300 and Shanghai Composite indexes each rose 0.7% by midday on Wednesday. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 0.4% over the same period.

In mainland China, robotics, semiconductor equipment and 5G communications stocks led gains. Robotics maker Unitree Technology rose 12% ahead of its first quarterly results since listing in Shanghai. An index tracking Hong Kong-listed AI-related companies climbed more than 5%.

The gains were uneven. Baijiu producer Wuliangye fell 5.7% after reporting a 48% decline in third-quarter profit, amid weak sales in China’s liquor industry.

SK hynix reports higher chip earnings

The market rebound followed stronger-than-expected results from SK hynix, although the price moves alone do not establish that the earnings caused the gains. In its third-quarter results, the chipmaker reported preliminary operating profit of 83.3338 trillion won, up 632% from a year earlier.

SK hynix said sales of high-bandwidth memory and other high-value server products expanded. It expects HBM4 to overtake HBM3E in shipment volume and revenue in the fourth quarter.
