Harvest STAR Chip ETF received authorization from Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission on October 28, 2026, ahead of a planned listing on the city’s stock exchange, its manager said. Harvest Global Investments did not give a listing date.
Key Takeaways
- The feeder fund will invest at least 90% of its net asset value in a Shanghai-listed master ETF.
- The master ETF tracks an index of semiconductor companies listed on Shanghai’s STAR Market.
- SFC authorization does not imply a recommendation, and investors face sector, mainland market and currency risks.
How the Harvest STAR Chip ETF will invest
The Hong Kong fund, with stock code 3559, is structured as a feeder ETF. It will gain indirect exposure to mainland Chinese chip companies through the Harvest SSE STAR Chip ETF, which trades in Shanghai under code 588200.
Harvest Global Investments said it will access the master fund through its qualified foreign investor status and/or Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. The master ETF is managed by Harvest Fund Management and is not authorized by the SFC or offered directly to the Hong Kong public.
Index coverage and investor risks
The master ETF tracks the SSE STAR Chip Index. The Shanghai Stock Exchange’s index announcement describes a selection of up to 50 STAR Market securities spanning semiconductor materials and equipment, design, fabrication, packaging and testing.
The fund’s risk disclosure notes concentration in the chip industry and mainland market, as well as risks associated with the STAR Market and renminbi currency exposure. Investment restrictions, tax rules or interruptions to QFI or Stock Connect trading could also affect the feeder fund. Investors can lose principal.
