NVision quantum chips could be made using organic molecules and manufacturing techniques related to those used in smartphone displays, the German startup said in research published in Nature on October 28, 2026. NVision also said it is partnering with US chipmaker HyperLight to make its first chips.
How NVision quantum chips would be made
NVision used artificial intelligence to simulate hundreds of candidate molecules and physically synthesized about 40 before identifying one that could be deposited as a thin layer on a conventionally made chip.
The company’s photonic integrated quantum circuits approach uses organic molecules as quantum nodes. NVision says the molecules can be deposited as thin films on photonic chips, providing connections between qubits through light.
From MRI research to a computer
The discovery grew out of NVision’s work on medical imaging. Its technology aligns electron spins in special sugar molecules, making the sugars easier for MRI machines to detect and helping identify cancer cells that consume them rapidly.
NVision has raised more than $155 million from investors including Abbott Laboratories. CEO Sella Brosh said the company plans to build a complete quantum computer, including chips and error correction, rather than sell only its specialized molecules. Its eventual goal is a rack-ready computer.
