Hyundai Motor India reported a 24% year-on-year fall in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as higher commodity costs weighed on profitability despite record vehicle sales.

Hyundai Motor India earnings and margins

Net profit fell to ₹1,196.2 crore from ₹1,572.3 crore a year earlier, while revenue rose 19% to ₹20,696.1 crore. In its second-quarter financial results, the company said commodity headwinds weighed on profitability.

EBITDA, excluding other income, declined 19% to ₹1,974.5 crore. The EBITDA margin fell to 9.5% from 13.9% a year earlier, although it improved from 9.3% in the preceding quarter. Hyundai said operating leverage, a healthy sales mix and cost reductions helped the sequential improvement.

Record volumes and electric vehicle plans

The company sold a record 219,072 vehicles in its fiscal second quarter, up 15% year on year. Domestic volumes rose 19%, while exports increased 4% from a year earlier and 38% from the preceding quarter.

Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said the company was preparing to launch a dedicated mass-market electric vehicle in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027. He also said macroeconomic uncertainty and cost pressures persisted.

Hyundai Motor India shares closed at ₹1,875 on the BSE on October 28, up 1.13%.
