Malaysia startups featured in a new Cradle Fund publication generated a combined RM8.5 billion in revenue for FY2024, as the government-backed agency highlighted 100 technology companies with commercial traction and growth potential.
What the Malaysia startups publication shows
The science ministry says Cradle’s 2026 publication, launched on October 1, is the first edition of the Malaysia Top 100 Startups. It is a recognition list rather than a ranking, and the publication is available to download through the MYStartup platform.
The featured companies recorded an average compound annual growth rate of 87%, although the announcement did not specify the period over which that rate was measured. Thirty-six of the 100 recorded more than RM1 million in net profit, and 58 were operating in regional and global markets.
Businesses based on artificial intelligence and data accounted for 66% of the selection. Cradle also said 33 of the companies had received its funding through grants or investments.
How Cradle assessed the companies
Cradle assessed the startups using FY2024 financial data from the Companies Commission of Malaysia, its own startup database and direct submissions from companies. It considered revenue growth, commercial traction and scalability alongside funding and valuation.
The publication also includes separate sections for established ecosystem contributors and founder-led companies working in deep technology and other emerging technologies. The selected companies’ combined revenue is not a measure of revenue across Malaysia’s entire startup ecosystem.
