A proposed tokenized stock venue backed by crypto exchange OKX and New York Stock Exchange parent Intercontinental Exchange faces objections from 33 issuers, narrowing the selection of shares it could offer before trading begins.
Key Takeaways
- Thirty of the 33 objecting companies were in the venue’s initial selection of 62 companies.
- Under the SEC exemption, a timely issuer objection prevents the venue from offering the affected third-party tokenized stock.
Tokenized stock venue adds objections
An OKXICE public notice dated October 26, 2026, added Intel, IBM, Oracle and IonQ to the objection list, bringing the total to 26. A notice dated October 27 added seven more: JPMorgan Chase, Advanced Micro Devices, Applied Materials, Coca-Cola, Adobe, Dell Technologies and Sandisk.
OKXICE initially identified 63 stock symbols representing 62 companies for potential trading through its Tokenized Securities Venue. Thirty of the 33 objectors appeared in that original selection.
The notices do not disclose the companies’ reasons. Their objections concern the proposed third-party tokenization of their shares on this venue and do not establish that they oppose tokenized securities in general.
How the issuer objection process works
The Securities and Exchange Commission introduced a temporary, conditional exemption on September 17, 2026, for qualifying venues to facilitate trading in tokenized National Market System stocks using permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools.
Under the exemption, a venue must notify an issuer before offering its stock tokenized by an unaffiliated third party. The SEC staff’s guidance on issuer objections explains that, after the 30-calendar-day objection period, a venue can offer the stock if the issuer has not submitted a timely objection; if the issuer has, the venue cannot offer it.
The framework also requires eligible tokenized stocks to preserve the applicable rights of their underlying shares, including dividend and voting rights. Trading must stop when the underlying stock is halted on its primary exchange.
Launch timing remains unconfirmed
OKXICE has not announced a confirmed launch date. The objection list could change as notification periods conclude and the venue updates its public notices.
A company’s absence from the list does not mean it has endorsed the venue or agreed to participate commercially. Some notification periods may still be open.
