UBS earnings rose 8% year over year to $2.69 billion in the third quarter of 2026, as the Swiss bank attracted wealth management inflows and brought forward the planned completion of its share buyback.
Key Takeaways
- Global Wealth Management attracted $55.1 billion in net new assets during the quarter.
- UBS plans to finish its $3 billion buyback by the time it reports fourth-quarter results in February 2027.
- The bank raised its year-end Credit Suisse integration savings target to approximately $13.7 billion.
UBS earnings and wealth management inflows
The bank’s third-quarter results, published on October 28, showed net profit attributable to shareholders of $2.69 billion, compared with $2.481 billion a year earlier. The result was close to the $2.71 billion expected in a company-provided consensus forecast.
Global Wealth Management received $55.1 billion in net new assets, with positive contributions across all regions led by Asia-Pacific and the Americas. UBS said underlying revenue in the division rose 8% year over year, mainly driven by higher recurring net fee and net interest income.
The Americas business attracted $17 billion in net new assets. Its profit-before-tax margin improved by more than two percentage points from a year earlier to 16%.
Buyback timetable and capital rules
UBS repurchased $1.8 billion of shares during the quarter and plans to complete its $3 billion program by the time it reports fourth-quarter results in February 2027. That is earlier than the mid-2027 timetable it had previously announced.
The bank said the amount and pace of repurchases remain subject to its financial performance and outlook, maintaining a common equity tier 1 capital ratio of around 14%, and greater visibility on Swiss parliamentary deliberations over the capitalization of foreign subsidiaries.
Swiss lawmakers are debating proposed capital requirements following Credit Suisse’s 2023 collapse and emergency takeover by UBS. The proposals have not been finalized and are expected to reach the lower house of parliament in December.
Credit Suisse integration savings
UBS said the integration remained on track for substantial completion by the end of 2026. It had delivered $13.2 billion in cumulative gross cost savings, including $0.6 billion in the third quarter.
The bank now expects approximately $13.7 billion in cumulative savings by year-end, up from its previous ambition of around $13.5 billion. The higher figure is a target, not savings already achieved.
Next milestone
UBS plans to communicate its 2027 capital return ambitions alongside its fourth-quarter and full-year results in February 2027.
