Wildfire resilience loans of up to $50,000 are available to eligible California homeowners through a partnership announced by Madronus Wildfire Defense and Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services (NPHS) on October 29, 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • Rates start at 5.99% for eligible households earning up to 120% of area median income.
  • Financing requires a minimum credit score of 620 and is subject to underwriting and approval.
  • Insurance coverage and savings depend on the property and insurer; neither is guaranteed.

Wildfire resilience loans and eligibility

The partnership lets eligible Madronus customers, including California FAIR Plan policyholders, apply for NPHS loans to finance improvements identified through the company’s wildfire resilience platform.

Madronus said the work can help homeowners obtain the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety’s Wildfire Prepared Home designation, which participating insurers may recognize when offering coverage or discounts.

How homeowners can get started

Homeowners can use the Madronus Capture app to scan their home and receive a free personalized protection plan. They can then schedule a consultation, obtain estimates and apply for financing. Loan approval remains subject to borrower eligibility and applicable terms.

NPHS also offers a separate Resilience Now program for income-eligible homeowners in Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties who have been notified by their insurer that wildfire retrofits are needed. That program has a $5,000 financing limit and a five-year term, distinct from the new partnership loans.
