SP Group financing talks aim to raise $150 million to $200 million through private credit as the Indian conglomerate faces debt obligations, people familiar with the matter said on October 29, 2026.

SP Group financing plans

The group plans to issue more of the rupee bonds initially sold by its Eqyizen Investment unit in July, the people said. Talks are at an early stage, and the size and terms could change.

About half the proceeds would repay creditors of Porteast Investment, another group unit, with the remainder going toward other group debt. The people said the group is seeking to complete the financing by mid-November.

SP Group representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tata Sons stake and liquidity

The fundraising effort comes as SP Group waits to monetize assets including its roughly 18.4% stake in Tata Sons. In a separate liquidity proposal presented to the Tata Sons board on September 17, Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata outlined a potential sale of part of the SP Group’s holding.

The proposed transaction envisaged a share buyout in two tranches over 18 months, yielding gross consideration of ₹25,000 crore at a minimum valuation. It remains a proposal, separate from the reported bond financing.
