India bond yields fell on October 29, 2026, with the benchmark 10-year government bond closing at 7.39%, down five basis points from 7.44% the previous day. It was the yield’s biggest daily decline since July.

India bond yields ease alongside US Treasuries

The 10-year yield opened at 7.42% on Thursday and eased during the session. US Treasury yields also fell after markets interpreted Federal Reserve comments on the future rate path as less hawkish. Oil prices declined to $113 a barrel from $116 a day earlier.

Bond prices generally move in the opposite direction to yields, so the lower yield reflects a rise in the benchmark bond’s price. CCIL’s indicative yield table tracks government securities and other debt across benchmark tenors; it is separate from the reported closing yield.

Bond auction and rupee in focus

India’s government was scheduled to sell ₹33,000 crore of bonds at its weekly auction on Friday, October 30, including ₹3,000 crore in 30-year green bonds.

Despite Thursday’s decline, Axis Bank forecast that the 10-year yield would reach 8% by June 2027. The rupee closed nearly unchanged at 95.26 per US dollar, compared with 95.22 at the previous close.
