Tejas earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 showed revenue rising about 55% from a year earlier to 406 crore rupees, while the net loss narrowed to 207 crore rupees from 307 crore rupees. The telecom-equipment maker announced the results on October 16, 2026, for the quarter ended September 30, alongside a larger order book and the start of supplies for additional BSNL network sites.

Key Takeaways

  • Revenue increased strongly year over year but was little changed from the preceding quarter.
  • The order book reached 2,315 crore rupees, up 51% from the end of the first quarter.
  • Supplies began for a BSNL expansion and a South American 5G network, while Tejas remained loss-making.

Tejas earnings improve annually, not sequentially

Tejas Networks’ second-quarter results announcement showed revenue increasing from 262 crore rupees a year earlier. Its loss before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization narrowed to 108 crore rupees from 293 crore rupees, while the pretax loss fell to 277 crore rupees from 473 crore rupees.

The comparison with the preceding quarter was less favorable. Revenue edged up from 402 crore rupees, while the net loss widened from 202 crore rupees. The figures therefore show a substantial year-over-year recovery, but not a return to profitability or a meaningful sequential acceleration in sales.

BSNL expansion and overseas deliveries support orders

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Arnob Roy said Tejas received a letter of intent from Tata Consultancy Services to supply 4G radio access network equipment for 18,865 additional sites on BSNL’s pan-India network. Supplies under that arrangement began during the quarter.

Tejas also began initial deliveries for an end-to-end 5G network in South America, an order it won in the first quarter of fiscal 2027. Chief Financial Officer AVS Prasad said the total order book increased to 2,315 crore rupees from 1,529 crore rupees at the end of the preceding quarter.

Other opportunities remained at earlier stages. Tejas received a letter of intent for IP routers in three states under BharatNet Phase 3 and was declared the lowest bidder in a domestic optical transport network tender. Neither status should be treated as completed delivery or recognized revenue.

Debt remains substantial despite narrower losses

Tejas reported net debt of 4,384 crore rupees at the end of the second quarter, compared with 4,277 crore rupees three months earlier. Gross debt declined over that period, but cash also fell, leaving net debt higher.

The first-half results likewise showed improvement without profitability: revenue increased from 464 crore rupees a year earlier, while the net loss narrowed from 501 crore rupees. The larger order book represents future business to execute, rather than sales already recorded.

Conclusion

Tejas entered the next quarter with a larger order book and deliveries already under way for the BSNL expansion and South American 5G project. Execution of that business, alongside continued losses and higher net debt, is the key development to watch.
