Adani Energy earnings rise faster than income
The company’s Q2 FY27 earnings announcement showed total income of ₹10,239 crore, up from ₹6,767 crore in the September 2025 quarter. Operating EBITDA increased 68% to ₹3,070 crore.
The release distinguishes operational revenue from total income. Operational revenue rose 51% to ₹7,167 crore, while total income also includes service-concession, engineering and construction, traded-goods and other income components. These measures should not be treated as interchangeable.
For the first half of FY27, profit after tax reached ₹2,600 crore, up 137%, while EBITDA increased 62% to ₹6,726 crore. Shares nevertheless ended October 22 down 2.49% at ₹1,293 on the BSE; the available information does not establish the reason for the decline.

Energy solutions drives a changing business mix
The energy-solutions platform delivered the sharpest increase in operating revenue, rising to ₹2,197 crore from ₹201 crore. Its operating EBITDA reached ₹803 crore, compared with ₹11 crore a year earlier. The platform supplies commercial and industrial customers and includes trading activities.
Distribution remained a steadier contributor. Operating revenue increased 2% to ₹3,181 crore, while operating EBITDA rose 23% to ₹605 crore. Electricity units sold in the Mumbai business increased about 11%, CEO Kandarp Patel said.
Transmission operating revenue increased 17% to ₹1,521 crore. Smart-metering revenue on an Ind AS accounting basis rose 129% to ₹267 crore. The company separately disclosed non-Ind AS smart-metering revenue of ₹384 crore, up 111%; the two figures use different reporting bases.
Project wins expand the execution pipeline
AESL secured the Vizag and Satara transmission projects during the quarter, taking its under-construction transmission pipeline to around ₹87,000 crore across 15 projects. That pipeline represents work still to be executed, rather than revenue already earned.
The company also signed a 25-year agreement to supply 2,500 MW of round-the-clock power to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited. The contract expands its energy-supply portfolio, but the announcement does not provide a start date for deliveries.
Smart metering provides another substantial execution opportunity. AESL reported a 24.6 million-meter order book with potential revenue of ₹29,519 crore. That amount is an order-book opportunity, not quarterly revenue or a profit forecast.
Conclusion
Adani Energy earnings showed broad growth, with energy solutions becoming a larger contributor alongside transmission and distribution. The next operational milestones are execution of the awarded transmission projects and further smart-meter installations; the announced pipeline should not be confused with completed work.
