US stocks opened higher on October 26, 2026, with all three major benchmarks posting modest gains as Tesla and Nvidia advanced. Separately, artificial intelligence company Anthropic filed for a proposed initial public offering, seeking a Nasdaq listing under the symbol ANT.

US stocks gain, but technology shares diverge

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.29%, the S&P 500 gained 0.30% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.33% in opening trading. These figures describe the start of the session, not closing results.

Tesla climbed 3.90% and Nvidia added 1.19%, while Apple fell 0.96% and Meta Platforms lost 0.45%. The split shows that gains among prominent technology shares were not uniform, despite the broader indexes moving higher.

Oil prices declined alongside the equity gains. Brent crude fell 1.4% to $115.02 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate dropped 2% to $101.01. Investors also awaited the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision.

Anthropic's proposed offering has no price range yet

Anthropic’s announcement of its proposed IPO confirms that the company filed a Form S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for an offering of Class A common stock. It intends to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ANT.

The number of shares and the offering’s price range have not yet been determined. Anthropic also said the registration statement had not become effective, meaning the securities cannot be sold and offers to buy cannot be accepted before that happens.

The filing is therefore a step toward a public listing, not a completed IPO. The opening market figures do not establish that Anthropic’s announcement caused the gains in Tesla, Nvidia or the broader indexes.
