NBA prediction markets will operate under a new league framework announced on October 26, 2026, combining an information-sharing agreement with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and commercial partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket. The NBA named both platforms its Preferred Prediction Market Exchanges, with trading restrictions and integrity obligations attached.
NBA prediction markets gain trading safeguards
The NBA’s prediction-market integrity framework includes a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC focused on cooperation and information sharing. The regulator agreement is separate from the commercial rights granted to the league’s exchange partners.
The agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket limit permissible markets, prohibit league and team personnel from trading NBA event contracts, and require information sharing concerning investigations and suspicious trading. These provisions make integrity controls an explicit part of the partnerships rather than simply granting promotional access.
“Protecting the integrity of the game is our top priority,” said Scott Kaufman-Ross, the NBA’s head of media distribution and partnerships. He said working with regulators and operators was important to establishing appropriate safeguards as the category develops.
Commercial rights include official data and promotion
Kalshi and Polymarket will receive rights to use NBA intellectual property, marketing rights and promotional activations across U.S. media channels. Both will also receive official NBA data through Sportradar to operate and settle authorized NBA-related markets, tying contract settlement to the league’s official data.
The NBA also expanded its agreement with DraftKings to include prediction markets and nationwide promotion. The league said it plans to broaden relationships with other existing sports-betting partners and additional operators in the coming weeks. All authorized prediction-market partnerships will carry enhanced integrity obligations and market restrictions aligned with the NBA’s latest sports-betting restrictions.
