General Indemnity Group joins CopperPoint
Boston Omaha’s May 18 sale agreement set out an all-cash transaction under which CopperPoint would acquire all outstanding equity interests in General Indemnity Group, or GIG. At signing, completion was expected before the end of 2026 and remained subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
The completed transaction moves the business from Boston Omaha to a specialty insurer focused on workers’ compensation and commercial property and casualty coverage. GIG reported total revenue of $27.2 million for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025.
Nationwide surety operations and digital platforms
Founded in 2015, GIG provides commercial and contract surety solutions across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The acquisition includes United Casualty & Surety Insurance Company, the BOSS Bonds surety-placement business and GIG’s proprietary SuretyBonds.Market technology platform.
Those operations broaden CopperPoint’s construction risk offerings by adding surety expertise alongside its existing insurance products. BOSS Bonds and SuretyBonds.Market also give CopperPoint digital channels for accessing and placing surety bonds.
GIG’s Boston office will remain the headquarters for the surety operations and serve as a local hub within CopperPoint’s wider business.
Additional capital planned for surety growth
CopperPoint President and Chief Executive Officer Kellen Booher said the company is contributing additional capital to strengthen and expand its surety offerings. No amount was specified.
CopperPoint said customers and distribution partners would continue working with familiar teams, products and platforms while gaining broader product capabilities, expanded underwriting capacity and additional digital service options. These are the company’s stated benefits of the combination, rather than measured post-acquisition results.
