Ather Energy shares jumped nearly 14% to ₹1,575 on October 26, 2026, after the electric two-wheeler maker reported a September-quarter consolidated net profit of ₹1.26 crore, reversing a year-earlier loss. The company also announced plans to invest around ₹122 crore in additional production capacity.

- Planned capacity additions span Hosur and the upcoming AURIC plant.
Ather Energy shares rise as quarterly earnings turn positive
Consolidated total income reached ₹1,527 crore in the quarter ended September 2026, while volumes climbed to 93,211 units. Ather reported EBITDA of ₹74.2 crore, its second consecutive EBITDA-positive quarter.
The EBITDA margin improved to 4.9% from minus 9.6% in Q2 FY26. The company attributed the improvement to higher volumes, a better product mix and cost discipline. Adjusted gross margin increased 160 basis points year on year to 24%, despite elevated commodity costs.

Capacity investment targets supply constraints
Ather plans to add 2.25 lakh units of annual production capacity across Hosur in Tamil Nadu and its upcoming AURIC facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. These are planned additions, rather than capacity already available during the September quarter.
The company said demand continued to exceed supply. Customer enquiries rose 109% year on year to about 10 lakh, while pre-orders more than doubled to 1.8 lakh units. Hosur operated at 98% capacity utilisation during peak production.
“Demand has more than doubled year-on-year this quarter, and to meet it, we are further augmenting our production capacity at Hosur and AURIC,” said co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta. Enquiries and pre-orders indicate customer interest, but are distinct from the vehicles delivered during the quarter.
Non-vehicle business takes a larger revenue share
Software subscriptions, charging, accessories and services accounted for 15% of revenue from operations, up from 12% a year earlier. That shift broadened the revenue mix beyond vehicle sales.
Ather also launched Konarc, its first scooter on the new EL platform, adding to a portfolio that includes the performance-focused 450 series and family-oriented Rizta.
Next milestone
The next planned capacity milestone is the Hosur expansion by December 2026, followed by the additional AURIC capacity expected in Q2 FY28.
