ACC earnings fell nearly 91% in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as weaker cement sales, higher fuel costs and a severance charge weighed on the Adani Group-owned company. A one-time tax benefit had boosted profit a year earlier.

ACC earnings hit by weaker sales and costs

Standalone net profit after tax fell to ₹101 crore from ₹1,112 crore in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue declined 4.7% year over year to ₹5,612 crore, while cement sales volumes fell to 9.72 million tonnes from 10 million tonnes.

The year-earlier quarter included a ₹671 crore write-back of tax provisions related to earlier periods. That benefit lifted the base against which the latest profit was compared.

ACC also recorded an exceptional expense of ₹710 million for voluntary severance benefits for permanent employees and third-party workers at production facilities, including some where operations have been temporarily suspended.

Demand outlook after the monsoon

Cement makers faced higher costs for inputs including petcoke, coal and diesel during the quarter. Seasonally weaker demand and intense competition limited their ability to pass those increases on to customers.

ACC said it expects cement demand to strengthen after the monsoon season, supported by government capital expenditure and spending on housing and infrastructure.
