SunPower Texas expansion adds installation capabilities

SunPower said the acquisition of Greenlight Solar project assets adds local talent and operating capabilities in Texas. CEO T. J. Rodgers said Greenlight provides an installation team, and that Garrett now leads SunPower’s U.S. installation group.

The company did not disclose the purchase price, other consideration or transaction conditions in the announcement. It also did not specify a completion date.

SOLRITE partnership targets battery power sales

SunPower plans to combine its sales, installation and lifetime warranty support with Fort Worth-based SOLRITE’s financing and virtual power plant capabilities. A virtual power plant can connect residential and commercial batteries so they can sell power.

Rodgers said SOLRITE sources projects and provides funding for systems with large batteries connected to a virtual power plant. He said income from power sales is shared with homeowners and engineering, procurement and construction contractors.

Kapil Rai, SunPower’s executive vice president of direct, said the partnership provides a path to bring together customer acquisition, solar and storage deployment, and financing in Texas and beyond. The announcement did not specify a deployment schedule.
