Defender 110 production has begun at Jaguar Land Rover’s Pune facility for customers in India, with prices reduced by up to ₹34 lakh for the fully loaded top-end version, the company said on October 27, 2026.
Defender 110 production shifts partly to India
India is the first market outside Europe to produce the Defender locally, JLR said. The company expects the move to increase sales volumes by up to 20%; that is a company expectation, not a reported sales result.
JLR said it sold 9,000 Defenders in India over the past three and a half years. Rajan Amba, managing director of JLR India, described the Defender as the company’s highest-selling model in the country.
Slovakia remains the global production hub
JLR’s Nitra facility in Slovakia will continue global production and remain the Defender centre of excellence. It will manufacture global variants including the Defender OCTA, Defender 90 and Defender 130.
In India, the Defender will be offered in the X-Dynamic HSE derivative with 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol engines and a 3.0-litre diesel engine. JLR Chief Commercial Officer Lennard Hoornik said Pune manufacturing would enable the company to respond faster to demand.
