How the Samsung student competition winner works

InnovateZ, from MRSM Bagan Datuk in Perak, beat four other finalists with TheVisionSense. The team designed the headset to use LiDAR and ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles and provide real-time audio warnings, helping users move more safely and independently.

The competition, organized by Samsung Malaysia with Universiti Malaya, invited students aged 13 to 15 to develop technology-based solutions to community challenges. Ten teams reached the semifinal, where they refined ideas, built prototypes and attended a design-thinking workshop.
