The Ripple Robinhood partnership will use Ripple’s RLUSD digital dollar to settle institutional trades and support Robinhood’s treasury operations, while expanding access to digital asset trading and financing through Ripple Prime and Robinhood-owned Bitstamp.
Key Takeaways
- RLUSD will be used for institutional trade settlement and is planned for listing on Robinhood’s trading platform.
- Robinhood and Bitstamp will have access to Ripple Treasury and Ripple Prime services.
- RLUSD had a market capitalization above $2.5 billion at the time of the October 27 announcement.
How the Ripple Robinhood partnership will work
The agreement connects RLUSD settlement with Ripple Treasury, which will be used for Robinhood’s operations, and Ripple Prime, which will provide financing. It also expands access to digital asset trading and financing through Ripple Prime and Bitstamp, the crypto exchange Robinhood acquired in 2025.
Robinhood Crypto general manager Johann Kerbrat said Bitstamp and Robinhood would have access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for operations and Ripple Prime for financing.
RLUSD will also be listed on Robinhood’s trading platform. It was already available to traders on Bitstamp and Robinhood Chain, the company’s blockchain for tokenized stocks and other assets.
Stablecoins move beyond crypto trading
Stablecoins have been used to move funds between exchanges, trade crypto assets and hold money between trades. The partnership extends RLUSD’s role into institutional settlement and treasury operations.
Ripple President Monica Long said stablecoins are increasingly being embedded in corporate payments and capital markets. Ripple also operates Ripple Payments, a cross-border service that can use several assets, including RLUSD, XRP and USDC.
At the time of the announcement, RLUSD’s market capitalization exceeded $2.5 billion. Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC remained the dominant stablecoins in a market exceeding $300 billion.
Next milestone
Robinhood was scheduled to report its third-quarter results after the market closed on October 27, 2026.
