Sona Comstar shares gain after Q2 results

Sona BLW Precision Forgings, known as Sona Comstar, reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹1,535.8 crore for the quarter, up from ₹1,138.2 crore a year earlier. Net profit rose to ₹223.4 crore from ₹172.7 crore.

Electric vehicle revenue and orders grow

Revenue from battery electric vehicles rose 129% year over year to a record quarterly level. Their 51% share applies to automotive revenue, not necessarily the company’s total revenue.

Managing Director and Group CEO Vivek Vikram Singh said quarterly revenue, EBITDA and profit after tax reached all-time highs, supported by electric vehicle growth, product launches, order wins and cash generation.

Electric vehicle, robotics and physical AI programmes represented 65% of the net order book. Quarterly wins included three battery electric vehicle programmes, one intelligent and connected solutions programme and three internal combustion engine programmes.

First-half results and product launches

For the first half of fiscal 2027, revenue rose 43% year over year to ₹2,857 crore, and profit after tax increased 36% to ₹403 crore. EBITDA was ₹658 crore, with a 23% margin.

Singh said the company generated more than 1.5 times as much free cash flow from operations in the first half as it did in all of fiscal 2026.

During the quarter, Sona Comstar commercialised three products: an electric vehicle differential, air springs for railway passenger coaches and rear radar sensors for two-wheelers.
