Venezuelan crude has arrived aboard an oil tanker in Port Arthur, Texas, where President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio plan to visit it on October 27, 2026. The oil is to be processed in Texas refineries.

Venezuelan crude visit planned

A congressional aide and two US officials described plans for the visit on condition of anonymity because Rubio’s travel had not been publicly announced. The account did not identify the tanker, its cargo volume or the refineries that would process the oil.

Rubio also serves as Trump’s national security adviser. The planned stop would be his first time travelling with Trump as the president campaigns around the country.

Visit coincides with Texas campaign stops

Trump has rallies scheduled in Corpus Christi and Lubbock on the same day, as he campaigns for Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections. He is seeking to bolster support for US Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who faces Democrat James Talarico.

It was unclear whether Rubio would participate in any campaign events.
