Chicago corn prices fell on October 27, 2026, as a rapidly advancing US harvest added to supply pressure. Wheat and soybeans also slipped, with wheat trading near its lowest level since early July.
Chicago corn prices and harvest progress
The most-active Chicago Board of Trade corn contract was down 0.3% at $4.53-1/2 a bushel as of 0318 GMT. Wheat fell 0.4% to $6.13-3/4 a bushel, while soybeans slipped 0.1% to $12.51 a bushel.
The US corn harvest was 60% complete as of October 25, ahead of the average analyst estimate, the US Department of Agriculture said in its weekly progress report. The soybean harvest was 79% complete, in line with trade expectations.
The advancing corn harvest could add to large stocks and increase supplies available for export. Soybeans also faced pressure from ample US harvest supplies and a weaker Brazilian real, which can make Brazilian exports cheaper for global buyers.
Black Sea export hopes weigh on wheat
Wheat had fallen to its lowest level since early July on October 26 amid hopes for Black Sea grain exports.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov said Russia was reviewing proposals to ensure safe grain transport across the Black Sea and was in contact with Turkey. The proposals remained under review; no agreement was announced in the available information.
