China industrial profits rose 14.4% in September 2026 from a year earlier, accelerating from 4.2% growth in August, National Bureau of Statistics data showed on October 27. Gains remained uneven across manufacturing sectors.
China industrial profits show mixed momentum
Despite the faster monthly growth, profits rose 15.5% in the first nine months of 2026, slightly slower than the 15.7% increase recorded for January through August.
The figures cover industrial firms with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan, or about $3.0 million, from their main operations.
Electronics gains contrast with furniture decline
Profits in computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing rose 103.8% in the first nine months of the year. Furniture manufacturing profits fell 51.3% over the same period.
The divergence comes as businesses tied to domestic demand face subdued consumption, while export-oriented firms face uncertainty from potential external pressures as trade surpluses expand.
China’s economy grew 4.5% in the third quarter, putting it within reach of its annual growth target of 4.5% to 5.0%. The contrasting profit figures show that the expansion has not been shared evenly across industries.
