Filipino streaming subscribers largely consider their services worth the cost, with 86.7% giving a positive assessment in an August 2026 survey by Momentum Research. The remaining 13.3% said their subscriptions were not worth the money.

Key Takeaways

  • Generation Z subscribers were the most likely to say their subscriptions were worth the cost.
  • Including people who used both formats, 56.7% of adults surveyed watched shows and movies via streaming, compared with 43.7% on traditional television.

Filipino streaming subscribers across generations

Among subscribers, 91.9% of Generation Z respondents said their subscriptions were worth the cost. The figure was 87.8% for Generation X, 82.8% for millennials and 78.1% for baby boomers and the Silent Generation.

Positive assessments also varied by region, from 97.6% in Metro Manila to 80.7% in the rest of Luzon. Momentum Research cautioned that demographic and regional estimates had larger margins of error, particularly for smaller groups.

Streaming and television viewing

Among all adults surveyed, 43.2% said they watched programs on streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube, while 30.2% relied on traditional television. Another 13.5% used both.

The viewing figures cover all respondents, whereas the subscription value findings apply only to those who pay for streaming services.

Digital tax and survey details

The findings come as minority lawmakers in the House of Representatives seek to repeal Republic Act 12023, which imposes a 12% value-added tax on digital services, including streaming platforms. The law took effect in 2025, and the lawmakers filed House Bill 7844 earlier in 2026.

The survey does not establish how the tax affected subscribers’ assessments. Momentum Research interviewed 1,487 Filipino adults face to face from August 18 to 23, 2026. It reported a national margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
