How ECOLUXE trailers are used

Hollywood Trucks designed the trailers to reduce production crews’ reliance on diesel generators. Their solar panels, batteries and electrical systems provide power and accommodations for film, television, streaming and commercial productions.

Under a multiyear agreement, Hollywood Trucks provides production transportation services and equipment across Universal Production Services’ studio operations. The agreement includes ECOLUXE trailers at Universal Studios. Universal Production Services is a division of NBCUniversal.

Hollywood Trucks introduced its first ECOLUXE trailers in 2015 and developed solar-powered basecamp systems the following year. The company says it holds multiple patents related to the technology.

Parent company develops larger platform

Autonomous Mobile Power, the parent of Hollywood Trucks, is adapting the technology for potential uses including emergency response, transportation and remote industrial operations.

Its next-generation 53-foot ECOLUXE AIR platform is being designed to provide more than 1.2 megawatt-hours of energy storage when coupled with electric semis. Intended uses include powering onboard systems, charging electric vehicles and distributing electricity externally. The company did not provide a launch date.
