Ford Motor Company and Washtenaw Community College are teaming up for a live Ford Bronco build by six students at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The two-day public project will take place during the November 3–6 event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Key Takeaways

  • The students will install aftermarket upgrades and present the completed vehicle.
  • The group began a dedicated preparation course in August 2026.

How the Ford Bronco build will work

The Ford Custom Garage Ultimate Build is intended to mirror a real-world shop environment. Students will disassemble designated components, install selected aftermarket upgrades and reassemble the vehicle before presenting it.

Show attendees will also be able to design their own Ford Custom Garage-style concepts using a digital configurator. The project will connect the students with industry professionals while emphasizing safety, technical work and communication.

Students prepared through a dedicated course

The six participants were selected through an application process that considered academic performance, motivation, recommendations, professionalism and teamwork. They represent the college’s automotive service and automotive body programs.

Since August, their preparation has included disassembling and reassembling Bronco components and visiting the SEMA Garage. Ford also held eight speaker sessions covering customization, product development, marketing and event preparation.

A digital video student has documented the project since the course began. The footage is intended for a documentary for Ford and the college and will also support the student’s degree requirements.
