NVIDIA and Oracle said on October 27, 2026, that Vera Rubin NVL72 systems and NVIDIA Vera CPUs are generally available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The companies also plan to expand the cloud platform’s Vera Rubin Superclusters to multi-gigawatt scale.

Key Takeaways

  • Vera Rubin NVL72 systems and Vera CPUs are generally available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • The multi-gigawatt Supercluster expansion and an eight-GPU server option remain planned.
  • OpenAI said it is bringing Vera CPUs into production on Oracle Cloud for agent workloads.

What the Vera Rubin expansion covers

The planned expansion would add Vera Rubin NVL72 systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or OCI, Superclusters. Each NVL72 rack connects 72 GPUs through NVIDIA’s NVLink networking. OCI already has NVIDIA-powered GB200 and GB300 NVL72 systems.

The companies did not give a completion date or an investment amount for the multi-gigawatt expansion. General availability of the NVL72 systems does not mean that the full planned expansion has been completed.

A smaller GPU configuration is planned

Oracle also plans to introduce NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8, an x86-based server configuration with eight connected Rubin GPUs. The planned platform would include two 64-core Intel Xeon 6 CPUs, 4 TB of DDR5 memory and 6.4 Tbps of networking.

The eight-GPU option is intended for training, fine-tuning and inference while remaining compatible with x86-based applications. The announcement did not give an availability date.

Vera CPUs target work between AI model calls

Vera CPUs are designed to handle tasks such as executing code, calling tools and retrieving data that AI agents perform between model calls. OCI Kubernetes Engine lets customers scale CPU and GPU resources independently, while Oracle Acceleron provides hardware-based isolation for workloads running untrusted AI-generated code.

OpenAI was among customers with early access to the CPUs. Its compute technology chief, Uday Ruddarraju, said the company is bringing Vera into production on OCI to support its agent sandbox workloads.
